Canadian Miner at a Twin Ports dock

The BBC Plata will be making its first appearance in the Twin Ports today. It was built in 2005 to handle a wide variety of cargos. Two on-board cranes allow the vessel to pick up and discharge heavy cargo. At 452 feet, it is small enough to visit smaller ports and even move up rivers, making it an ideal vessel to deliver large, heavy equipment for construction projects. Having said that, the BBC Plata will be loading grain on this visit, and will likely drop anchor off the Duluth piers upon arrival this afternoon while it waits for the Canadian Miner to complete loading grain. Above, the Canadian Miner here on a visit in August, 2000. [Canadian Miner was sold for scrap in 2011.]
