The Gordon C. Leitch

The Gordon C. Leitch  is shown here departing Duluth on September 19, 2009 with a cargo of grain loaded at the CHS 2 terminal in Superior. She was built as the Ralph Misener in 1968 by Canadian Vickers Shipyards at Montreal and is owned and operated by Upper Lakes Group, a Canadian company that sends many ships to Duluth. The Leitch is 730 feet long with five hatches that open into five cargo holds below deck. She has a maximum carrying capacity of 28,975 tons. This was her 4th trip here this season; she has only been here 17 times since 1996.

The Gordon C. Leitch will be making only her 13th visit to the Twin Ports since 1996 today. She was called the Ralph Misener when she was first launched in 1968.
