No crowds for Columbus

If you visit the Columbus while she is in town today (September 14, 2011), you will notice she is in a cage. Not sure whether we are being protected from them or are they being protected from us. If the latter, it seems to have worked.

Columbus brings visitors to Duluth

The 400-passenger cruise vessel Columbus will be here today for the first of two visits this year. Built in 1997 in Germany, it has five passenger decks that include a swimming pool, sauna, spa, gym, hospital, library, boutique, salon, wine bar and a lounge with a stage and dance floor. The visit is part of a 10-day cruise beginning in Toronto and ending in Chicago. Other stops on the cruise include Windsor, Tobermory, Parry Sound, Sault Ste. Marie, Thunder Bay and Mackinaw Island. It will depart under the Lift Bridge late this afternoon, returning on October 3rd.

The cruise ship Columbus is here today for the ship’s third and last visit of the year. It should depart Duluth around 6 pm this evening, just as it did on September 16th, above.

Columbus in Duluth again

The cruise ship Columbus is here today for the third time this summer. It will be docked at the Port Terminal through the visit, allowing no access from the public. It will be departing under the Lift Bridge tonight at 6 pm.

After a one year absence, the cruise ship Columbus should be arriving around 8 am today. It will depart at 6 pm this evening, but will be returning on September 16th and 24th. For security reasons, it will dock at the Port Terminal.
