The Atlantic Superior will be here for the third time this season. It will be true to its name on this trip, loading coal here, for Nova Scotia Power in Sydney, Nova Scotia, a trip that will take the boat from Lake Superior to the Atlantic Ocean. Built in 1982, it has worked a wide variety of ocean routes, taking coal from the United Kingdom to Portugal and iron ore from Spain back to the United Kingdom among many others. Notably, the vessel delivered stone to the English Channel tunnel project. Photo taken April 29, 2003.

The Atlantic Superior started life under that name in 1982. It was changed to the M. H. Baker III for a while but it is now back sailing under the original name. Working now in the Great Lakes, the boat has also spent time working the coast of Europe and also some time on the Pacific Ocean. Picture taken April 29, 2003.
