The hull of the Virginiaborg was constructed in Romania in 2000 and then towed through the Black Sea, across the Mediterranean Sea and up the east coast of Europe to Delfzijl, The Netherlands, and home port for Wagenborg Shipping, her owner. The ship was assembled there.
