Go along with the Alder

On March 13th, 2013, the US Coast Guard cutter Alder made her second ice breaking trip of the new season. She retraced some of the tracks she broke out on Monday and went under the Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge to open a track to the end of the ice pack, about 5 1/2 miles out.

Best video ever. It felt like we were on the boat, nice to have the narrative.

  7. Great video, thanks for shooting the footage and making it available! Spring’s gotta be just around the corner although a long string of cold nights are in the forecast for the near future, so the Alder, Mackinaw, and Biscayne Bay might have their work cut out for them in the harbor.

Thanks, Ken for that fantastic video! I think this is the best one yet. A great picture of the Ryerson. Love the in your face ice breaking on the lake. The sounds of the bridge are music to my ears! The best of the best!
