Great Republic stops in Duluth

Above, the Baie St. Paul made her first entrance  into the Duluth port around 8:30 on Friday night, December 21, 2012.  Below, you don’t suppose the Baie St. Paul is hiding behind her fleet mate Atlantic Erie, do you. Both are at anchor off the Duluth piers, waiting to load iron ore pellets at the CN dock in West Duluth.

Paul R stops for fuel before loading coal

The Paul R. Tregurtha arrived Duluth in the early afternoon of December 18, 2012. She is here to load 64,000 tons of coal at Midwest Energy Resources in Superior. Before going there, she stopped by the Calumet fuel dock to load fuel.

Merry Christmas Federal Sakura

The last saltwater ship of the season, the Federal Sakura, arrived last night (December 17, 2012) at 7:56. She was of course greeted by the annual Bentleyville Christmas light display in Canal Park.

Hermann Schoening here

The Hermann Schoening arrived Duluth on December 13, 2012 (below) to load grain at CHS2 in Superior. It was her first trip to the Twin Ports.

Indiana Harbor goes out with coal

The Indiana Harbor departed Duluth in the late afternoon of December 11, 2012 to carry 64,000 tons of coal from Midwest Energy Resources in Superior to their parent company, Detroit Edison.

Federal Yukina here for flax

After stopping in Hamilton, Windsor, Milwaukee and Burns Harbor, the Federal Yukina came to Duluth to load flax. She is seen here doing that at CHS 2 in Superior. Later today (December 4, 2012), she will leave here for Thunder Bay to load canola oil before departing the Great Lakes for Europe. She was built in Japan in 2010.
