The Edwin H. Gott arrived in Port on Wednesday evening, January 11, 2012 at 6:50 to load iron ore pellets at the CN dock in West Duluth. She left Duluth around noon today (above) to deliver her cargo to Detroit. She will return in about a week for winter layup in Duluth.

Listen as she sounded a particularly strong salute to the bridge.

Great sounds! But, as I called on Duluth for many years while still working,n my favorite memory was of the old fog horn (not the peanut whistle!) at the canal, which could carry for miles. Do you happen to have a recording of it? Thanks…….

I had a chance to spend a day on the Gott in 2008. Since then she’s remained my favorite of the great lakers. And, Ken, you should harness those whistles for ringtones.
