The Paul R. Tregurtha, at 1,013 feet long, is the largest boat on the Great Lakes. She is  here approaching the Duluth ship canal on her way to the  Midwest Energy Resources coal dock to load 64,000  tons of coal for Detroit Edison  power plants in Monroe and St. Clair, Michigan. Listen as she sounded a salute to the bridge, and to those of us greeting her.

Very neat and powerful horn. Definitely my favorite Thousand Footer horn. Thanks so much for posting the horn sounds. I grew up in Duluth and now live in Brainerd, but hearing these horn blasts brings me right back to childhood, growing up in Lincoln Park, I could hear the horn exchange all the time when I was outside.

I never get tired of looking at this monster ship. Big things really put things in perspective. The huge lake and huge ship make all problems
and concerns seem small.
