It was a beautiful Fall day in Duluth (October 15, 2011) when the Mesabi Miner departed the port after loading iron ore pellets at the CN dock in West Duluth. Listen to her whistle and the Duluth Aerial Lift Bridge response.

The gale in Eastern Lake Superior really screwed up some
shipping schedules I’m guessing. We had the Edwin H Gott
in Chequamegon Bay hiding out from the big blow all weekend.
So the ships have to be jammed up at the Soo right?
Oh, those poor people look so cold! Nice boat, though, and great whistle. Thanks, Ken!
thanks ken. wish i was there to see it.
very cool! we saw her come in last night (we got bridged!) but missed her departure.
