Nice weather…for ducks

It isn’t even October and the ducks are flying in Duluth, or rather sailing. Earlier this week, we had two ‘duck’ ships here, the Bluewing and the Greenwing. Today, 2 more duck ships will be arriving, the Redhead and the Cinnamon. All these ducks are loading grain for overseas ports. Above, the Cinnamon was here in November, 2004 loading grain. There has been a line waiting to load coal at Midwest Energy Resources. The Paul R. Tregurtha moved over there late Thursday afternoon and has probably already departed, allowing the American Integrity to move in. Before it moves out later today, the Mesabi Miner will likely arrive to wait and early this afternoon, the St. Clair will join the line. With all the waiting, it is too bad it isn’t duck hunting season.
