American Century takes coal

The American Century, formerly the Columbia Star, departed Duluth on Friday evening (above) for a quick trip to Silver Bay to discharge coal for North Shore Mining. As it departed, it went past the Canadian Enterprise, at anchor off the Duluth piers waiting for the James R. Barker which had replaced the American Century. When the James R. Barker departed, probably earlier this morning, the Canadian Enterprise was in from the anchorage and over at Midwest Energy loading coal. After it departs sometime this morning, the American Century will be back from its trip to Silver Bay, ready to take on another load of coal, this time for its usual destination, a Detroit Edison power plant at St. Clair, Michigan.
