Greenwing and a kayak

Unlike grain, coal and taconite can be loaded during any kind of weather. But boats loaded with coal and taconite don’t always depart Duluth in bad weather. Two thousand footers, loaded with coal and waiting for weather, finally departed Duluth late yesterday afternoon while the slightly shorter St. Clair departed around the same time with taconite. Five ships were here loading grain and didn’t do much loading yesterday. Ironically, that is very likely the most grain boats we have had in port on any one day this season. The Greenwing will likely depart today with grain. Above, it sat at anchor Sunday while a local dentist moved his kayak by.
